Public Announcement: 2026 Foodthink Climate Grant Project List

Extreme weather has shifted from being “news” to being “everyday”, and we need action rooted in the land and grounded in real needs more than ever.

In late April this year, Foodthink officially launched the Sixth Lianhe Programme Small (Action) Grant. We are looking for place-based solutions that go beyond grand concepts to genuinely activate communities’ intrinsic strengths, helping frontline smallholder farmers and communities address climate change.

During the call for applications, we received a total of 58 applications brimming with sincerity and a drive to act. These spanned topics of varying breadth and depth, from ecological restoration to community composting, and from low-cost disaster risk reduction for smallholder farmers to women’s empowerment. Whether frontline producers exploring locally rooted wisdom, or researchers and creators reshaping urban–rural connections through data, art, and theatre, every concrete idea enriches our imagination of climate resilience.

Following the programme team’s initial screening, in-depth online interviews, and scoring and discussion by the panel of reviewers, 12 projects ultimately stood out and were selected for this round’s Lianhe Programme funding list.

Funding slots are limited, but the sparks of action are boundless. To those who, though not on this round’s funding list, are already putting their ideas into practice, we extend our deepest admiration.

Going forward, Foodthink will continue to follow and support your projects through matching communications resources and connecting peer communities, among other means, so that more compelling food and farming stories can be seen.

In the midst of change, let us together “take a small step first, then talk about the bigger things”.
